I'm writing this post the night before the big Birthday!!! We had a small birthday celebration with some friends last night. We made an adults dinner of Huli Huli chicken, rice and salad along with a childrens dinner of homemade Mac-and-cheese and chicken nuggets. The meal was a hit except that Porter prefers frozen or Kraft Mac-n-Cheese to my homemade stuff. I had cupcakes for dessert with cars on top. See the pictures because they turned out really cute! Porter was not into the dinner. He had so much fun playing with all of the kids that he was not hungry. Amazingly the kids all played really well together and I am happy to say there were no tantrums.
He is at such a fun age. He loves to dance and sing. When the music comes on we say "Porter dance!" and he will get up and start dancing. He has some great moves! He sings "Twinkle Twinkle little star" and makes up his own words. He laughs and smiles constantly. He has a baby doll that he likes to swaddle and he places the baby in Cooper's bouncer along with ALL of the other baby toys! He sometimes gets made when Cooper is in the bouncer instead of his own baby doll.
He is becoming more interested in Cooper. He is not always so gentle with him. Trevor taught him to answer the question "What does Cooper say?" with "Waaah Waaah!" This goes along with his other animal sounds that he can answer.
His vocabulary has made a significant jump this past month. He is repeating everything we say and can communicate his wants a little better. He can put 2-3 words together. He definitely is not speaking in sentences and often goes into his baby babble but he is doing a great job overall.
He has moved up to the older class in his daycare or "school" as we call it. He is back with kids a little older than he is rather than much younger. I think this will help with his vocabulary and "sharing" skills. Instead of being the big kid in the room he will be playing with kids a little bigger. I think it will be very good for him! He unfortunately will not be moving up with his friend Olivia. The teachers told me that she asked for him everyday. I would see her waiting at the front door when we arrived. Apparently she also talked about him at home and gave him back rubs in "school." Too cute!
