Thirteen Months Old!

Well, this is a little late but oh well! Porter is now 13 months old and he is definitely a toddler. I look back at his baby pictures and can hardly see my little baby, he is a lean, mean toddler machine. He is independent, loves walking, nonstop talking and full of adventure and curiousity. His major milestones are:

- Walking!!! He is more walking now than crawling. He can walk fast but not running yet! Trevor likes to walk outside the house with him.

- He loves to point. He points at his train clock everytime we walk into the nursery. He points at all clocks in the house because he thinks they all make noise like his clock! He can point to anything he wants.

- Top tooth is a coming! He has the two bottom teeth only at this point. And he's starting to nibble and bite which he thinks is funny (we do not think so!)

- Talking more than ever! He does not have any words yet but he has full conversations with himself and others.

- Sleep better:) He still gets a bottle at 10pm and then he usually sleeps until around 6am! On vacation he does not sleep well in his pack and play unfortunately. Occassionally he will turn on his toy music in his crib rather than cry.

- Escaped from his daycare crib - the little stinker!

We just got back from a great four day trip to Mt. Hood with my parents, sister and brother-in-law. I skiied two days and Trevor skiied a third day with Jeff. It was beautiful but very busy up there! We had a great time. Here are a couple pictures from the trip:

Mommy and her Valentine!

Happy Valentine's Day! Porter and I had a wonderful Valentine's Day together. It all started at 5am! Porter was ready to start his day early. Daddy was very nice and got up with him so Mommy could sleep in until 6:30. Then my Valentine was delivered to me and Daddy got some sleep:) We had a nice morning at home. Unfortunately Trevor had to work at 2pm so Porter and I went to the YMCA. Since Porter is walking I am able to put him in daycare (which is cheap about $2.50/hour) while I workout!!! It's a great deal for both of us, especially me! We then went down to Vancouver to Kids Club, the massive indoor play structure. Now that Porter is walking he had even more fun this time. The last time we went was on his birthday and he started walking there! He loved all of the tunnels and foam pads. I think he enjoys watching the big kids run around and play as well. He was one of the smallest kids there. After Kids Club, we went for a major Costco run. Porter slept most of the time in his carrier but he woke up so I could show him some of the toys. There is a cool playhouse which he was a little unsure of. I sat inside the house while he stood out by the cart and watched. We'll see if he warms up to it, it would be really cute for him to have a little house. We got home in the pouring rain, had a nice dinner (mac and cheese with brussel sprout puree!) and now he is fast asleep! Ahhh, what a day! I am starting to get organized for our Mt. Hood trip this week. It's a short week . . . two days of work which is my kind of week!

Our little escape artist!

I received a call from daycare this afternoon that Porter had climbed out of his crib. Apparently while the daycare worker was changing another baby's diaper, Porter woke up from his nap and climbed out of his crib. He fell down (which I believe is a few feet). He cried for a few minutes and then recovered quickly. They called very concerned. I know they take good care of him at daycare and these things can happen. Trevor picked him up and checked out the crib situation. He still is not sure how he escaped. The crib is pretty high with not much opportunity to step up. Porter appears to be doing quite well. We went out to dinner and he was in a chipper mood. I guess we'll see if he learns how to climb out of his crib at home. I imagine that he will have extra eyes on him at daycare!

Early Valentine's Day

Trevor unfortunately works Saturday - Monday this weekend so we had an early Valentine's Day celebration. We went to Portland last night to go rock climbing. This was my first time rock climbing since before I got pregnant (two years ago). We went to the local gym and had a great time. We are both pretty sore from climbng. After climbing we went out to dinner at Montage which is a New Orleans style restaurant. It was so fun to go climbing again and now we are looking forward to Smith Rock this spring.
