Cooper: 10 months old

Our little guy is ten months old! He loves to smile - big open-mouthed smiles with two small teeth popping up! He is at such a fun stage. He is crawling, cruising and he stood on his own today. I think he may have taken one small step but it was as he was falling so we won't count it! He is also quite the climber. He can get up the little tikes plastic slide in our house and play with the wheel on top of the toy structure. He also LOVES the stairs. He likes to race Porter up the stairs. He continues to eat essentially everything. He likes to feed himself as well which is nice because it gives me more time. He has tried ground turkey, cheese, pears, toast, pancakes, bananas, avocados, and probably many others. I still make his baby food with whatever fruit and vegetables I have available. He is a good sleeper. He goes down at 7:30 and sleeps until 6:30 or 7am which is great for us. We still have him in the pack and play because Porter is a night owl and likes to sleep with the lights on (not the best sleeping buddy yet). He enjoys getting pulled in the red wagon and riding in the back of the backpack. I carry him everywhere in the packpack . . . around the grocery store, mall, Target, and even around the house. He loves attention from anyone and is already becoming a big fan of daddy (another daddy's boy!). We have a big month ahead with Cooper's first trip to Hawaii! I think he will love the swimming and sunshine!

Porter: 2 years 9 months

I have not posted on Porter much so I wanted to dedicate an entire post to our happy, busy guy. He LOVES to play. He is really into dinosaurs, trains, cars and animals. He is passionate about all of them. He loves his train table and puts his cars, little people, and trains on the track. Currently we have mostly cars on the track. He likes to line up all of his animals on tables and have them talk to each other. He also likes to have them kiss one another. He likes to play make-believe and have full conversations. He loves to explore outside as well. He likes to run and play chase. He is starting to get into his bike as well though it is a battle to get his helmet on him. He is getting back into the "walking" toys now that we have them out for Cooper. We took him up to Mt. Hood last weekend and he loved swimming in the pool. He now puts his head underwater without prompting. He can't swim yet but it's a good step to go underwater. We have him signed up for swim lessons next month. He is a BIG brother and learning how to be one. He is pretty good at finding toys for Cooper to play with though he always chooses his least favorite toys. He unfortunately has a bad habit of hitting Cooper on the head when he is mad at him. He does not like to share. I have found him sitting on Cooper multiple times in order to keep him from getting to his toys. His favorite songs are the 'Wheels on the Bus' and 'You are my Sunshine.' His favorite books are Toot and Puddle which is a cute story about two pigs who are friends, Daniel and the Dinosaur, and any animal picture book. I think he is getting scared at night since he wants to sleep with the lights on and the door open. He goes to bed at 7:30 but he stays up for 2-3 hours talking to his animals and reading books. We will find him flipping through books in his tent until we go to bed. He will sleep until 7:30 or 8am but that is not much sleep for a 2 year old (10pm - 7:30). The biggest change is that he is now potty trained!!! We started at the end of August and it has been a slow process but he is doing a really great job. He does not have many accidents at home. We now have a potty in my car which is helpful. He is not good at telling us yet but he can hold it until we take him to the restroom. His favorite rewards are green tic tacs (who would have guessed!?). We put a diaper on him for naps and bedtime but that will probably not change for awhile. His birthday is right around the corner which is crazy to think about. It's hard to believe we will have a three year old!
