Cooper: 9 months old

Cooper is now nine months old. I am a tad late in posting this entry. He has really started to change this past month. He is on the move! He started to crawl at eight months and now he is fast. He can get across the room in no time. He can pull himself up and now is cruising around furniture. He gets his sight on a goal and he is determined. He is full of smiles and quite the charmer. He loves when people talk to him so he can give him his gummy smile (no teeth yet but two are coming!). He can entertain himself for a short while, usually with soccer balls. He is obsessed with soccer balls. He chases them around the house and loves them. When he is not playing by himself though he wants FULL attention. He can come find us and pulls himself up on our legs to be picked up. This is making getting house stuff done a little more complicated but I'll take the cuddling any day. He is talking, mostly babbling constantly. I think we'll have another talk on our hands. He likes reading, but he loves to chew on the books which makes big-brother Porter upset! We had his 9 month well child exam and he was smaller than we expected. We thought he was chunky in comparison to Porter. His weight is18 lbs (10%), his length is 28 inches (30%), and his head circumference is 17 inches (25%). He is growing, eating healthy and happy as could be. I am still making his baby food which I suspect will be ending soon as he transitions to table food. He loves almost all purees I make him. I have tried more variety with Cooper than Porter. So far, Cooper does not like lamb puree (it really looks terrible) and he does not like spicy purees (red pepper, green pepper). Other than that, he eats anything I give him. He also has developed a terrible habit of spitting/spraying food everywhere. I thought it was when he was full or did not like the food but I think it's more for fun. Needless to say it covers us in baby food and is quite disgusting! I think the next month is going to be big for Cooper. He may even start walking which I hope he holds off on another couple months. We are so lucky to have such a happy little guy!

Cooper: 8 months old

I have been delayed on my posts recently. Summer has been busy and I am trying to enjoy our good weather while we have it! Cooper has made huge strides this past month. He is now mobile! He can't quite crawl but he can roll, push off his feet and do a funny "army crawl" to get around. He can cover our family room in no time to get to what he wants. I think he will be crawling in no time. He has also pulled himself to his feet twice (once at daycare and once at my parents' house). He is not cruising yet fortunately. He loves cars - just like his big bro! I definitely see sibling ribalry in the near future. He continues to smile his adorable gummy smile. I hope he does not get teeth for a little longer. He laughs and loves to be tickles. He is more vocal about being left in one place. He wants attention and does not want to be put down with toys. This has made it tricky to get stuff done. I have found myself packing him around in a backpack which he enjoys. He still takes 2-3 naps per day usually 1-1.5 hours each. He goes to bed at 7:30 and gets up around 6:30 or 7. He is sleeping through the night which makes me thrilled! He is adored at daycare and charms most people we meet. I spent my first two nights away from him this weekend. I left the boys at my parents' house while I spent a girls' weekend at Crescent Bar (about 25 minutes from Wenatchee). There were four of us from highschool and it was a wonderful weekend in sunshine, relaxing by the pool and catching up with old friends. The boys did great with my parents and sister and I actually did fine away from them. I was ready to see them Sunday morning though.
