8 Months Old!
Porter turned 8 months old yesterday! Wow! Each month things get more exciting. He is much more active and mobile each day. His big milestones this month are:
- He continues to sleep well. Ocassionally he will wake up crying in the middle of the night but he goes right back to sleep.
- Moving both forward and backwards in his walker (he just started moving forward yesterday after we pushed him around).
- Crawling in reverse, he moved from the living room to underneat the kitchen table this weekend (he is about to start crawling forward any day now).
- Smiling, laughing, and loving people!
- Stranger anxiety is beginning (mostly he does not want people to leave his side). He is not playing by himself as well.
- New foods: nectarines, peaches, apricots along with apples, pears, mango, banana. Veggies are peas, sweet potatoes, cauliflower, carrots, zucchini. Tofu, cottage cheese (not a fan), yo baby yogurt, chicken, lentils, turkey.
- He can feed himself puffs! it takes awhile but he can get the food in his mouth.
- First family vacation to lake Roosevelt, it was a success other than the sleeping and the7 hour road trip!
- He continues to LOVE Billy. He is also pulling on the cats' tails (which they do not like) and Billy's ears (he tolerates).
- Day care is going well. He likes all of his teachers and is always happy and playing when I pick him up.
- He is quite the hiker already, we went on two different hikes at Mt.Hood with him in the back pack.

Crawling .... in reverse!
Our little boy is crawling, just only in reverse! He stands on his hands and knees and rocks back and forth. He definitely wants to crawl. He can also push up to his feet and his feet which is really cute. He pushes himself backwards, not forward yet. If I turn around, he'll push himself under a futon or table. It's hilarious because he is so proud of himself. He can push himself around in the walker as well. He can go backwards and tonight he started pushing himself forwards in the sun room. I think the traction with his bare feet helps!
Weekend at Mt. Hood!
Trevor, Porter and I spent the weekend at Mt. Hood. It was a wonderful and relaxing weekend. We drove up Saturday and hiked to Burnt Lake. It was a beautiful 6 or 7 mile hike to a cute lake. Porter did a great job hanging out in his backpack. We went out to several good restaurants. On Sunday we went hiking to Thomas Lake (see pictures below). It was a easy short hike from Little Crater Lake to Thomas Lake. Little Crater Lake is this amazingly blue lake which is supposed to be similar to the large relative, Crater Lake. It drops down 45 feet and is only 100 feet across. We walked from this area to Thomas lake. It was a short two mile hike but Porter got to see his first horse! He did not pay much attention to it.
